ABOUT:
After more than twenty years, only the second book by the Brno photographer Jaroslav Pulicar (*1954) is being released. The author is one of the "least known of the well-known" Czech documentary photographers. His work is known only to a few insiders. We could count the author's exhibitions on the fingers of one hand, and there are even fewer texts delving deeper into his work. He has long considered whether to release any photographs to the world. He knows how to do what he enjoys: being on the road, photographing in black and white, always on film. Jaroslav Pulicar's work is distinctive, among other things, because of its consistency and unwavering dedication. The demands placed on the photographic image are intertwined with his life attitudes. His multilayered non-reportage snapshot has become so integral to him that he has dedicated his entire life to it. He cultivates subjective momentary photography as a demanding relationship with the world.
