Mercy was published in 2000 to accompany Antonín Kratochvíl’s exhibition at the National Gallery in Prague. The exhibition focused on children’s suffering, including photographs from areas affected by conflict and famine, as well as the consequences of the post-communist transformation. The book presents Kratochvíl’s raw black-and-white documentary photography with a deeply humanistic approach.
